Health authorities are tackling a COVID-19 outbreak of more than 100 people aboard a cruise ship sailing from Brisbane to Sydney.as it sailed from Port Douglas in Far North Queensland to Brisbane - the first coronavirus outbreak for the local cruise industry since it restarted voyages.

Queensland recorded a further 4804 COVID-19 cases yesterday, with the number of active cases now at 40,489. The cruise industry was shut down from March 2020 to April 2022 when the former federal government announced a ban on international cruise ships entering Australia.Its restart came after the industry worked with federal and state governments to overhaul health and safety protocols aboard for passengers and staff.
