Asked if pushing to eliminate the coronavirus in Australia would deliver a stronger economic recovery, as argued by some academics, Mr Morrison said further outbreaks would always be possible.To avoid a "stop-start process" of outbreaks and restrictions, he said, contact tracing through the COVIDSafe app would be essential."We are seeking the goodwill and support and participation of Australians," he said.
The source of infection in a four-year-old girl who was attending a childcare centre in western Sydney remains unidentified, NSW Health says. Penrith Local Government area has been identified as an area for increased testing and surveillance by NSW Health in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
