: Victoria is set to report 191 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the highest number of diagnoses in the state since the start of the pandemic.The total number of cases recorded in the state is now at 2824.Border closure a matter of 'weeks rather than days': Police MinisterNSW Police Minister David Elliott has said the closure of the Victorian border will last for a "matter of weeks rather than days".

"The first message and the last message from the government today is: if you don't have to cross that border, don't," he said."People will be confused, communities will be upset, local businesses will be interrupted; but what we'll always do as a government is to minimise the burden," he said. "If there is a failure in any of the technology between now and midnight Tuesday night, and you need to cross the border, you will need to be patient," he said. "But you should approach police and explain the situation and we'll work with you."
