Two staff members at Warringal Private Hospital in Heidelberg in Melbourne's north-east have contracted COVID-19, with patients among five identified close contacts., hospital CEO Austin Wills said a staff member in the hospital's day oncology unit tested positive to COVID-19 on Sunday.

Mr Wills said one of the five staff members identified as close contacts, who worked in theatre, was less of a risk to others because they were wearing PPE. "Let me be blunt, too many countries are headed in the wrong direction, the virus remains public enemy number one," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual briefing from the UN agency's headquarters in Geneva on Tuesday morning, Australian time.
