A vaccine for COVID-19 has produced an immune response in all volunteer candidates in Phase 1 of the study, new results said.

The trial showed the vaccine required a second dosage, given four weeks after the first, to produce an immune response in its subjects. Many of the 45 test subjects produced more of an immune response from the vaccine than people who had been infected with a mild case of the COVID-19, according to reports.

The biotech company said if its vaccine can successfully be put to market, “the company remains on track to be able to deliver approximately 500 million doses per year, and possibly up to 1 billion doses per year, beginning in 2021”. Dr Jackson said at this stage, the results “provided information rapidly that could be used to determine what dose to go forward with Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials”.
