Corporates are "slowly" understanding to 'go woke' means to 'lose money' after investors removed investment into Volkswagen when the company's April fools name-change gag backfired, according to SA Liberal Senator Alex Antic. His comments come after Volkswagen of America posted a fake statement saying the company was changing its name to "Voltswagen" in order to promote electric vehicles.
A spokesperson later confirmed the statement was meant to be in the spirit of an April Fool's joke. “The surest fire way for a corporate to lose money is to go woke”, Mr Antic told Sky News host Rowan Dean. “We saw it with Gillette and their toxic masculinity campaign and we’re now seeing it with ‘Voltswagen’ as well. “A big lesson the corporates are getting it, they’re getting it very slowly but they’re getting it through the balance sheet you might say.
