The boss of Corrs Chambers Westgarth is the highest-paid legal CEO in the country, but the natives are restless.
Perhaps Corrs Chambers Westgarth boss Gavin MacLaren can share some of his $6 million salary with some of the partners who will be out of pocketMacLaren’s pay – and that of two key lieutenants Mark Wilks and Andrew Stephenson – has emerged as a lightning rod for discontent among Corrs’ partners, some of whom have upped and left for that very reason.
If that doesn’t make the Corrs boss the highest-paid legal CEO in the country, then Hearsay would be very surprised. The former Allens and Freshfields partner joined the firm in 2018, and his original five-year contract was last year extended to 2028, so the board is obviously happy.Word is he has overtaken John Nerurker of Mills Oakley, who is said to be on more than $5 million as part of a deal that ties him to the firm’s highest earner.
