Peter Dutton has been on 2GB, doubling down on the Coalition’s opposition to Labor’s bid to legislate a 43 per cent emissions cut by 2030.cites a decision by Germany to fire up coal stations to conserve natural gas“It’s clear to me that you don’t need the legislation ... we probably will surpass what we believed we could achieve in terms of a target. And we did that without legislation,” Dutton told 2GB.
“If you turn it [coal and gas] off too quickly, we will have a huge price rise for families, for small businesses at a time when they can’t afford it.” “You’ve got to have coal and you’ve got to have gas. If you don’t, then we’ll find ourselves in situations where you do have rationing and you do have blackouts and prices do go up.”
