Cricket: Jasprit Bumrah was named the player of the series despite India losing the Border-Gavaskar trophy, with many wondering if a fit Bumrah would have been enough to bowl out Australia in their second innings at the SCG.
Michael Vaughan believes India could have beaten Australia in the fifth Test at the SCG if Jasprit Bumrah was fit, but the tourists lack of depth in their pace attack hurt them.
Vaughan commended the Australian batters for being able to score enough runs to win the series, given Bumrah’s dominance. “We came into this series saying is there enough support around Jasprit Bumrah and in the end the evidence was no it wasn’t quite,” Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket. “Let’s hope it is not a serious injury, but they have got to start looking at some bench strength and then grooming them.Cummins: "One a few of us didn't have" | 12:39
“Burmah’s bowling almost single-handedly could have won the series for India. It definitely kept them in the series.“Without him I don’t think they would have been competitive.
