NRL: Parramatta have confirmed that rising star Blaize Talagi and has told the club he'll be accepting an offer elsewhere.
The rumours of Valentine Holmes ’ departure are too widespread to “not be true” according to Phil Gould, who believes a move could come with a position switch for Holmes. And while North Queensland are yet to confirm the reports, Gould believes where there’s smoke there’s fire.
Holmes is entering the final year of his contract in 2025, and the Cowboys are reportedly looking to shed his mammoth salary, reportedly around $1 million per season. For Gould, a move to the Illawarra makes plenty of sense for both player and club, who are set to lose Zac Lomax at the end of this season.Lomax, who was moved to the wing by Flanagan this season to great effect, will trade the Dragons for Parramatta next season, leaving a gaping hole in the St George back line.Gould believes Holmes’ arrival would soften the blow of losing Lomax, who starred in the Blues’ historic 2024 State of Origin series win.
