Sarah Ferguson presents Australia's premier daily current affairs program, delivering agenda-setting public affairs journalism and interviews that hold the powerful to account. Plus political analysis from Laura Tingle.

ELLA ARCHIBALD-BINGE, REPORTER: It’s 2022. The world is still reeling from a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. And on a small bush block in rural Queensland, three people are preparing for the apocalypse.

They’re stockpiling rifles and shooting cardboard targets. They’ve set up sniper hides along their driveway and bought camouflage ghillie suits. When four young constables jump over it on a Monday afternoon, the Trains don’t see police – they see agents of evil. And then secondly, you need other people whose personalities may be weaker, or less able to challenge the authority of the person who holds the strong belief system.

KRISTY CAMPION: I think we expect too much that people are aware that they are becoming radicalized. It is more often that it is an incremental adoption of ideas and beliefs that gradually transform this person from someone who may feel socially excluded through to someone who believes that they are divinely ordained or especially chosen to enact change in their society.

They’re told a man named Nathaniel Train is missing and was spotted dumping weapons at the border crossing.
