The potentially harmful reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) has been found in four schools in the region

Dumfries and Galloway Council is “ahead of the game” in dealing with the concrete crisis which has seen more than 100 schools close in England.

“As far as Dumfries and Galloway Council is concerned I’m confident that we’ve been ahead of the game and on the ball. Some cracked RAAC panels were found in Laurieknowe Primary with a recommendation made to the council to install further support to a small number of panels over a small area within the school. Further work is planned to replace panels over the next year and the work won’t impact school operations with work starting in the October holidays.
