The plans will affect takeaways within 800m of schools, which open between 8am and 5pm
The policy featured in the long-awaited draft local plan which was discussed at a strategy and resources committee meeting this week.
It states new takeaways or changes to opening hours at existing takeaways will not be allowed where the business is within 800 metres of a secondary school, and open between 8am and 5pm. The would also not be allowed in a district or local centre where existing takeaways already make up more than 25 percent of the units in the centre.
