They are in the process of reclaiming the park

A statement has been made after a group of travellers have pitched up at a park in Beeston. Broxtowe Borough Council have said that they are aware of the large number of caravans seen at Hetley Pearson Recreation Ground, off Queen's Road West.

The group of travellers were seen at the site from Saturday 25 June and Broxtowe Borough Council said they are aware of their location at the park. Hetley Pearson Recreation Ground is used for games of football and cricket as well as being a family park. A spokesperson from the borough council said: "The Council is aware of an unauthorised encampment on Hetley Pearson Recreation Ground, Beeston. The legal process is underway to reclaim the site."If you witness any criminal activity please report this to the Police on 101 or if it is an emergency 999." It comes after the University of Nottingham ordered a group of travellers to leave after they pitched up at their park last week .

The travellers were situated on Highfields Park in Beeston which is run by the university. The Co-op in the area reportedly had to temporarily close due to issues experienced.
