It was an important toss to win. There was plenty of movement around in the first session before lunch and then Hampshire couldn't really cope. They got there comfortably with Jacob Bethell leading the way. The Rugby-educated Bajan reached his career-best score and appeared on his way to a maiden first-class century before being dismissed for 93 by Olly Stone.
The ball has done plenty for the Gloucestershire bowlers again this morning, which should encourage the visiting attack.The wicket of Matt Renshaw ten minutes before lunch has given Worcestershire just a sniff, but all the evidence of the morning session suggests that Somerset ought to be able to bat through to a draw comfortably enough, rain or no rain.
