After meeting at a dance in Watford Town Hall, a couple celebrated yet another decade together, toasting their platinum wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day.covered the 60-year anniversary of Barbara Pearson, 91, and Norman Pearson, 92, who met at the dance in 1951 while Darlington-born Norman was on leave from the army.
This week, Chalfont Lodge Nursing Home, in Denham Lane, Chalfont St Peter, hosted a party as they marked 70 years of Valentine’s Day anniversaries.The couple were delighted to receive a card of congratulation from the King and enjoyed flowers, cakes, and harp music with friends and family on February 14.
Despite struggles with dementia, Barbara and Norman enjoyed the event and all the congratulations they received for being together so long. The sweethearts have two children, Martin and Julie, as well as four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. However, anyone hoping for a romantic reason for the wedding date will unfortunately not find it here.In 2013, Norman said he"hadn’t heard of Valentine's Day” before getting married."Everyone wanted to get married before April 1 so we took the first day we could get, but it’s very nice now to be able to celebrate on Valentine’s Day."
