A Sydney couple has forked out a staggering $14.25 million for a penthouse apartment with views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
The eye-watering price for the 285-square-metre penthouse, dubbed The Royal, equates to $50,000 per square metre.The apartment has four bathrooms. "The Royal penthouse flows across two floors connected by a grand circular staircase, and includes a sweeping skyline terrace with stunning north-east views, complete with an open-air jacuzzi and BBQ," developer Greenland Australia said.
The couple didn't stop there and also purchased another apartment in the building for their adult children, bringing their total spend to just under $16m. The once-seedy suburb has seen rapid gentrification in recent years as the city's controversial lockout laws forced the closure of a host of bars and nightclubs.
