A NSW teenager is in hospital fighting for life after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
The state's Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said 52 active COVID cases were in hospital: 15 of those in intensive care, five of whom are ventilated.
Dr Chant said the number of young people admitted to hospital and intensive care “dispels the myth” that COVID is only for the elderly as she urged people to move on with their vaccinations. “Can I urge everyone to come forward for their second dose of their AstraZeneca vaccine. Please talk to your GP,” she said.
In the wake of the death of a 90-year-old, Dr Chant said the focus was now on vaccinating the elderly.
