NSW Health figures show more than 50,000 children aged five to 12 and more than 27,000 teens aged 13 to 18 caught COVID-19 during the first four weeks of the school year | niltiac marywardy
There are also 10 NSW public schools that currently have a year group learning from home. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, all public schools are open for students who can’t learn from home.
With so many teachers on leave, the school was reverting to learning from home for students in years 9 and 10 on Monday and Tuesday this week, while other students would come to school for face-to-face learning. The NSW Health figures show one in seven early childhood education centres had a positive rapid antigen test registered to them for the week ending February 26, and there were about 15,000 cases among newborns to four-year-olds for the whole month of February.
NSW Health figures for the week ending March 12 show there are 36 children under the age of 10 in hospital, and 16 aged 10 to 19.
