New NSW Health data has revealed COVID-19 infections in the 20 to 29-year-old age group has almost doubled in the past seven days, to about 1200 cases.
New data from NSW Health released on Monday afternoon showed there were almost 1200 cases in that age group in the past seven days, up from about 600 the week prior.
Infections in the 30 to 39-year-old age group also doubled, from more than 400 in the seven days to August 16 to more than 800 in the week to Monday. The 10-19-year-old age group had about the same number of cases, followed by the 0 to 9-year-old age group with a tick more than 600 infections.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Monday pleaded with 16 to 39-year-olds across 12 hotspot areas in Sydney to book their vaccine as they were being prioritised for the jab. Anyone 18+ is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, so find a walk-in clinic or make a booking:
