From vaccines and boosters to antibody therapies and pills that clear the virus in recently diagnosed patients, here's a look at what Covid-19 treatments are FDA approved and what is coming next
The FDA authorized the first Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in December 2020 and drugmakers haven't slowed down since. According to the FDA, hundreds of Covid-19 treatments are being studied.
The treatments include antivirals and antibody therapies that keep the virus from multiplying, immunomodulators that alter the body’s immune response to the virus and pills that clear the virus in recently diagnosed patients. Here’s what we have to prevent and treat Covid-19 as of Nov. 19.About two-thirds of the country are fully vaccinated with the three vaccines authorized in the U.S.— Pfizer -BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson .
