As Australia’s vaccine rollout program begins to hit its strides, more than 16 per cent of the over 16 population are fully vaccinated.

Australia’s vaccine rollout has been boosted over the past few weeks after the Morrison government secured an early release of the Pfizer vaccine with shipments coming in at a rate of one million doses a week.

More than 1.1 million doses were administered in the past seven days, and 1,426,038 jabs were received in the last 10 days. With all Commonwealth residential and aged care facilities having now recieved both their first and second doses, more than 75 per cent of Australia’s over 70s population have received their first dose while 37 per cent are fully vaccinated.

After Australia’s largest city, Sydney, followed soon after by the entire states of Victoria and South Australia, went into lockdown, pressure mounted on the federal vaccine program.
