New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant has issued caution for suburbs in Sydney’s south-west, saying the risk of COVID-19 transmission is “greater” in these areas.
Dr Chant said the suburbs of concern are “Fairfield, Smithfield, Bossley Park, Fairfield Heights, Fairfield West, Wakely, Bonnyrigg, Glenfield and West Hoxton”.
She said people in these areas should only leave their homes for essential reasons, but also always “assume that someone next to them has COVID”. “Everyone across Greater Sydney should assume that but we are conveying that in these areas, the risk is even greater,” Dr Chant said. “When you are out and about for those very essential things that you need … go directly there and make sure you’re maintaining your social distancing, your mask over your nose and mouth.”
