The young man killed in an alleged bashing incident on a night out has been identified as 22-year-old Gold Coast man Cameron Duce. He died on Saturday in Gold Coast University Hospital, one week after he was allegedly punched on The Esplanade at Burleigh Heads about 2.30am on September 22.
Man charged after 22-year-old killed on a night out. 7NEWS understands he was walking home from a night out, when he was allegedly set upon at the intersection of The Esplanade and First Ave. Residents told police they saw five people fleeing the scene in a car, 7NEWS understands. His father Chris paid tribute to his son on social media on Saturday, and gave permission for 7NEWS.com.au to reference it in reporting on his son’s death.
