From fighting for the wooden spoon to the top four teams, the North Queensland Cowboys’ run to the NRL quarter-finals will inject $7 million into the region’s economy.

NRL fans will descend on Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville on Friday night.

“Post-COVID, any event like this just brings a positive social influence into the community,” Ms Prideaux said.“Everyone just gets together which is something we’ve been missing for a few years and the financial flow on is just incredible across all sectors.” Lisa Woolfe, a director a Townsville Enterprise, said the NRL match was expected to bring more than $7 million into the North Queensland region, assisting its recovery post-COVID recovery.
