Exclusive: Teacher and author Daisy Turnbull will address everything from curriculum to uniforms as the school prepares to welcome its first cohort of girls in 2026 | JordsBaker

As historic boys’ school Cranbrook plans to open its gates to female students, it has hired author and former St Catherine’s teacher Daisy Turnbull to lead the transition.

The alma mater to Kerry and James Packer is among several Sydney single-sex schools to shift to coeducation. Others include Barker College in Hornsby, Marist North Sydney and Champagnat in Maroubra. “Daisy is a passionate advocate for coeducation and gender equality and will work collaboratively, creatively and diligently to ensure the smooth transition for us all,” principal Nicholas Sampson said in a statement.

“The current single-sex independent school structures in Sydney create one-dimensional interactions between the genders,” they wrote.
