Nicole Pacent has joined the Criminal Minds revival, Criminal Minds: Evolution, as a recurring character who will bring some bad news for the BAU.

Nicole Pacent has joined the cast of Criminal Minds: Evolution. The police procedural TV series, which focuses on a group of criminal profilers who investigate cases and hunt down wrongdoers, i.e., UnSubs at the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit , ended in 2020 after a successful 15-season run. But only a year after the show aired its finale, plans for a revival were announced at Paramount+. The revival struggled to go on for some time due to rights and licensing issues.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now Deadline has announced that Westworld and Call Me Kat alum Nicole Pacent has joined the Criminal Minds: Evolution cast in a recurring role. Pacent's character is Rebecca, a lawyer at the Department of Justice . She will reportedly come to the BAU to deliver unfortunate news about the unit's operational future.

It is hard to predict what kind of trouble the BAU would find itself in Criminal Minds season 16. However, it is a fact that the new UnSub won't be the only challenge the team would face, as it has already been confirmed that Brewster's Prentiss' new conflict in Criminal Minds season 16 will involve a micromanaging deputy director who will disagree with her leadership as the BAU Unit Chief.

Another reason the BAU's fate might be in jeopardy could be because of whatever Matthew Gray Gubler's Dr. Spencer Reid and Daniel Henney's Matt Simmons are up to. Although Gubler and Henney are not returning for Criminal Minds season 16, their characters will not be written off immediately; rather, their whereabouts will only be progressively disclosed over the show.
