Priya Murugappan is looking forward to 'starting a new life' with her family as they return to the central Queensland town of Biloela after four years in various detention centres.

The Murugappan family - Priya and Nades, and their Australian-born daughters Kopika and Tharnicaa - landed at the local airport at about 2:30pm on Friday afternoon.

The family-of-four, who had most recently been living in Perth, spent a couple of nights in Brisbane before travelling to the town in central Queensland.Crowds gathered to greet the family as they landed.
