The cybersecurity company behind a global IT outage that grounded flights, knocked banks offline and sparked chaos for retailers and media organisations admits compensation talks are inevitable. An estimated 8.5 million Windows devices were taken offline when a flawed software patch was sent to customers by CrowdStrike on Friday.

“If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service,” the company says.
