Two thousand passengers are stranded 40km off the coast of Brisbane with high seas and wild winds making it unsafe for the Coral Princess cruise ship to dock.
The Coral Princess has been prevented from entering Brisbane harbour with waves of up to 6.5 metres being recorded while passengers have shared footage of the boat rocking and water overflowing from the vessel's pools. The boat is the same vessel that made headlines last week when it arrived in Sydney with around 120 positive COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
Caloundra Coast Guard has instructed the ship to remain a safe distance from the shore until the waters inside the harbour calm down. “The pilotage service is unlikely to resume before noon today , which would mean a late afternoon arrival for Coral Princess at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal.”
