Trade Minister Don Farrell has made a quick trip to Brussels, where he hopes to end a deadlock that has included Australian threats to walk away from negotiations. "But there is a positive mood for various reasons, including political reasons, that it would be unthinkable if we failed at this last hurdle between Australia and the European Union in striking an agreement, a free-trade agreement, after many, many years."
There had been growing concerns among exporters eager for closer trading ties with Europe that the negotiations would collapse without an agreement.
