CSL kicks off US trial for COVID-19 treatment

The Australian biotech giant will launch a US study testing whether a treatment candidate helps treat COVID-19 related pneumonia.

enrolling patients in a phase two study for a potential treatment for people with COVID-19 suffering severe respiratory distress.

CSL's Bill Mezzanotte said CSL was in the battle against coronavirus with a range of global partners.CSL312 is also called Garadacimab and is an antibody treatment that inhibits the plasma protein, FXIIa. It is hoped the treatment will be useful in preventing the progression of coronavirus once patients experience respiratory distress and could be another tool for doctors to use in the fight against the virus.
