Joel Kent was acquitted of attempted homicide, but convicted of an aggravated assault charge. He skipped the second day of his trial, and a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

on charges that he shot up a friend’s West Shore townhome, but he didn’t show up to hear it.

“I haven’t had any contact from his today,” Kent’s attorney, Stacy Wolf, said after her client was acquitted of two first-degree felonies, but convicted of a third count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. “I don’t know where he is, or what happened to him.” “He was upset. He chose to scare his friend... But that’s the only thing he was there to do,” Wolf told jurors Tuesday as the case proceeded in Kent’s absence. She asked for an acquittal on the attempted homicide and both assault counts.

“I’m just glad I didn’t see him,” Kent said of his friend in that interview. “I probably would have shot him.”The not guilty verdicts means they were not convinced of Kent’s intent to kill or even cause serious bodily injury. But the shots fired into the window gave them the factual platform to convict on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony that carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.
