Personal and health data from the hack is up for sale on the dark web.

Almost 13 million Australians had personal and health-related data stolen in the MediSecure cyberattack earlier this year, making the mass hack one of the largest ever.

But the company said it wasn’t able to identify who was affected by the breach due to the costs involved in analysing the data. The federal government was not aware of publication of the full data set, National Cyber Security Coordinator Lieutenant General Michelle McGuinness said on X.“No one should go looking for or access stolen sensitive or personal information from the dark web,” McGuinness said on Thursday. “This activity only feeds the business model of cyber criminals and can be a criminal offence.
