“It’s been a really awful start to the year,” acting assistant commissioner for road policing Justin Goldsmith said.A motorcyclist died at Keilor East about 4.50am, after he was hit by a truck at the intersection of Keilor Park Drive and Western Ring Road. The driver of the other vehicle, a 40-year-old Strathmore woman, sustained minor injuries, and did not require emergency treatment.Goldsmith said high-risk behaviours, such as drink-driving and speeding, as well as critical mistakes made by drivers were the most common causes of collisions on the state’s roads.
