A 100-year-old timber bridge removed from Brisbane’s northside is being replaced.
A new cycle and pedestrian link for Brisbane’s northside is being peddled to the city’s riders.
A new cycling and pedestrian bridge will replace the 100-year-old bridge at Frederick Street in Alderley.The narrow Frederick Street bridge closed to cars in 2012 and by 2020 had deteriorated so badly it was shut off to pedestrians. Queensland Rail has released artist’s impressions of the $2.4 million bridge and construction should begin this year after community consultation.and at the new Boggo Road precinct near the Cross River Rail development.
“I appreciate the understanding of locals in knowing this was done exclusively for safety and I’m proud to now announce a new and improved bridge is in the works,” Sullivan said.“It’s fantastic that this new active transport bridge will soon provide safe and easy access for people walking or riding across the Ferny Grove rail corridor once again.”
