The D-backs are looking to beat the Rangers on their own turf as Game 1 of the World Series gets underway in Arlington at 5:03 p.m.
at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas went to extra innings after Rangers outfielder Corey Seager hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth against Arizona closer Paul Sewald.
This is the third time the D-backs have gone to extra innings in the World Series. Games 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series both went to extras. The Yankees, however, won both of those games. But, as we all know, it ended well in 2001 as the D-backs went on to win the World Series in seven games! . The most recent was last year when Philadelphia beat Houston in 10 innings. The longest World Series game ever was in 2018 when the Dodgers beat the Red Sox in 18 innings. The city of Phoenix is home to five major professional sports league teams; The NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks and NHL's Arizona Coyotes.
