A radical California DA is under fire for going easy on three gangbangers charged with shooting a 5-year-old girl through the heart and killing her earlier this month.
Enhancements to murder charges can mean the difference between a sentence of 15 to 25 years in prison and life without any possibility of parole. Cops said Kristo Ayala, 25, of Pleasanton, fired three shots at the car — including the fatal bullet that pierced Crisostomo’s chest. “This directive reduces reliance on sentencing enhancements and allegations as an effort to bring balance back to sentencing and reduce recidivism,” Price wrote in the memo.
“The lesson is that when you show up for freedom and justice, you have to be ready for the backlash,” she told a crowd of backers.“Some people often say why does it matter that you’re the first Black woman to serve in this seat?” she asked the crowd. “And they need to understand the reality of being Black in Alameda County.

Their goal is to empty the prisons. And we are seeing the result of these policies on the street across the state. Zombies, drug addicts, violent crimes, shootings. People aren’t being held accountable.”
