The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office has declined to prosecute a 17-year-old...

During a news conference Friday afternoon, District Attorney Joe Gonzales said his decision to “reject” two charges against the teen was a “humanitarian decision.” Brennand was responding to a disturbance in a McDonald’s parking lot in the 11700 block of Blanco Road when he noticed a vehicle parked nearby. Although the vehicle wasn’t involved in the incident that Brennand was responding to, he thought it was one that had fled from him the previous day.
Brennand then fired at least 10 shots toward the vehicle as the teen sped out of the parking lot. The teen was detained about a block away on charges of evading arrest and assault on a peace officer. He had been struck by multiple bullets and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
