He's home - but it's bittersweet
A man from Preston says he's been left devastated and angry following a 'nightmare' journey home from Romania.
Following talks with the airline, Steve, Emma and the people they shared room with were told they could all get on a flight home yesterday . However, the group we left feeling bitter sweet as they were told 79-year-old Harry Hutchenson could only get on a flight this weekend by himself. The group realised that Harry would not be able to get on their flight despite their best effort to ask if he could be placed on one of the empty seats. When reality set in, they had no choice but to say their goodbyes. Steve and Emma have since been reunited with their seven and ten-year-old sons and while they are relieved to be back Steve says more needs to be done to prevent this from happening again.
Steve says the entire experience has been an anxiety ridden one for him and his partner Emma who is now struggling with her own mental health.
