Religious group 40 days for life began their fresh 'campaign of harassment on women accessing abortion services at the QEUH on Wednesday.
A young dad leaving hospital with his newborn son slammed anti-abortion protestors for targeting women outside a maternity ward in Glasgow.
"What about teenagers who fall pregnant? Kids don't always feel ready to bring up kids. They might still be at school or not have a job. They might be worried about providing for a baby. There is poverty all over Glasgow but are these people thinking about that? He continued: "My partner has just had a bay and I don't want her to see this. Post-natal depression is a massive thing for women and suicide rates are through the roof in this country. This behaviour is just creating fear.
They include; the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, Edinburgh Chalmers Street Clinic, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Sandyford Clinic. The Abortion Services Bill proposes that pro-life campaigners should be fined if they stage a protest within 200 metres of such a facility – with unlimited fines for serious breaches.
“Abortion rights are human rights, and they are non-negotiable. I don’t want this to be a country where people are afraid to access healthcare. I hope 2024 can be the year that changes.”
