“We need to make sure that when we come to the full council with the zoning piece and regulatory piece that we have as many of those questions answered as possible,” said Simpson, who oversees departments including code compliance and, up until Feb. 2022, was the office’s director. “It would not be fair to the citizens who have been waiting for us to speak up,” said Arnold, who represents South Oak Cliff. “And I’m hoping that we will speak on behalf of the families because the families are what makes Dallas what it is.”
Council member Paula Blackmon said she wants Dallas to consider an option that would allow neighborhoods to opt-in to keep short-term rentals operating in their area.
