Extreme weather conditions are expected to develop along the coastline of NSW on Saturday night, with 'damaging winds and heavy rainfall' forecast for parts of the state.

The Illawarra and South Coast will be hit hardest as a low-pressure system develops near the central coastline over Saturday night.

The Bureau of Meteorology said this low is forecast to deepen and shift south on Sunday, resulting in damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Conditions are said to ease on Sunday evening as the low moves offshore, however the state could see up to 125 millimetres of rain fall by Monday. The Bureau also said heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding, is forecast to develop along the coastline between Nowra and Batemans Bay from Saturday night and into Sunday morning, before easing in the evening.
