Richard Taylor, the father of 10-year-old Damilola Taylor who was tragically stabbed in London, has died after a long fight with cancer at the age of 75. Richard had been working for over 20 years to stop knife crime since his son's death.
Damilola was just 10 when he was attacked by two brothers, aged 12 and 13, in Peckham, south London, on November 27, 2000. He was stabbed in the leg and left in a stairwell, dying just days before his 11th birthday. Many admirers today have paid tribute to Mr Taylor online, expressing their appreciation for his dedication and grit. Marverine Cole, a familiar newsreader on Good Morning Britain, shared her sentiments via Twitter: "God rest his soul. How very courageous he was. Led a battle for justice for his son, and a battle for his life against cancer. May his memory live long," reports the Mirror.
