Dan Andrews and his government have been slammed in a bombshell new report.
Outgoing Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass took aim at the former Premier of Victoria in a scathing final report, accusing the Andrews government of ruling with a ‘culture of fear’.
It began with an investigation of the notorious Red Shirts election rorts scandal the government attempted to shut down, forcing a Supreme Court legal battle. Ms Glass explained that she was frustrated by her office being used this way, but said they had actually exposed some areas of legitimate public concern.
“Some months before its release, Premier Andrews had resigned. I hoped that the new Premier, Jacinta Allan, or at least some in her Cabinet and their advisers, would actually read the report, which many commentators have described as balanced, where they would find a great deal to see and be disturbed by,” Ms Glass said in her final report.
She revealed that she had been troubled by former public service boss Andrew Tongue’s immediate termination the day after Daniel Andrews took office in 2014.
