Prime Minister Scott Morrison will no longer give Sydney “preferential treatment” in vaccine allocations, according to Daniel Andrews.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews gave a brief summary of Friday’s national cabinet meeting on Sunday, explaining how he called on the prime minister for a “proper proportional distribution” of doses.

“It is only fair that we distribute vaccines based on the population and need … but we can’t continue to see hundreds of thousands of extra doses pouring into Sydney at the expense of every other part of our nation. It followed Mr Andrews’ comments that Victoria’s sixth lockdown won’t end as scheduled on September 2 following 92 new locally acquired infections on Sunday.

The Premier also took a subtle swipe at NSW after they allowed weddings to proceed with limited numbers in attendance, despite daily case numbers consistently cracking 1000.
