Call us jaded, but this zest for her work and what the fashion she wears represents has been nothing but a joy to behold. Her inspiration? Wakanda itself.
“We’ve been playing off the fantastical, otherworldly quality that [the fictional East African country] connotes,” says Gurira’s stylist,, who has been working with the actor since 2015. “The celebrated women of Wakanda are all independent leaders and we really make choices with them at the forefront [of our minds] – whether that’s working with Gabriela Hearst, who shares Danai’s passion for sustainability, or with female or African designers.
