A man is still missing and hundreds of residents have been told to rethink weekend plans, avoid travelling, and keep an eye out for the latest updates as a bushfire destroys more than 6000 hectares of land in a small Western Australian town.
DFES Commissioner Darren Klemm said his crew was slowly getting on top of the blaze but warned it could be weeks before it was put out.
"There was a lot of effort on Wednesday and Thursday and now it's the hard slog .. to really shore up those containment lines." "There is no indication at this point in time that this has been a deliberately lit fire or indeed that anybody's missing," he said. Police released images of the missing father-of-three in hopes of appealing to the community to come forward with any information of his whereabouts.
