This comes as Victoria’s debt continues to grow and is forecasted to reach record $226 billion by the 2026 financial year. “Daniel Andrews is simply out of money,” Mr Pesutto said. “He doesn’t know how to address these problems and he won’t be able to. “He’s created them.”

Andrews government to consider 7.5 per cent levy on short term accommodationThe Andrews government is set to consider a suite of reforms designed to increase the supply of housing in Victoria. Victoria state cabinet today is said to be discussing the plan which could include a tax on Airbnb or short-stay properties. The Age reported that the Andrew cabinet will consider a consumer-facing levy as high as 7.5 per cent on short-term accommodation such as Airbnb. The levy could raise up to $20 million a year in Melbourne’s CBD and $30 million on the city’s peninsula.
