Danny DeVito took time to praise Colin Farrell's take on Penguin in TheBatman, but also revealed his inclination toward Tim Burton's take on the character. 'I thought Colin did a great job... My feeling of comparing...I’m like a Tim Burton fan.'
Danny DeVito praised Matt Reeves and Colin Farrell's take on comic villain the Penguin in The Batman but stated he prefers Tim Burton's approach. Farrell became the latest actor to portray the Gotham City crime boss opposite Robert Pattinson's Batman in the 2022 film. DeVito portrayed the character in Burton's 1992 sequel Batman Returns.
“Yes, I did, I thought Colin did a great job. Certainly a different milieu. I think it was a more edgy, serious, gangster-y Batman. Of course there’s three Italians who are bad guys in it, the Falcones . But I feel like in terms of the performances, I thought Colin – who is a good buddy of mine – I think he did a great job in that. You take your hat off to anybody who sits in the makeup chair that long. I did it with The Penguin and loved it.
